Headed up to Virginia Beach for ECSC this past weekend to photograph the action. As luck would have it for the competitors, Poseidon sent his blessings with a nice fat swell from tropical storm Danny. The First Street jetty break was going of on Saturday as the professionals and armatures alike got some action that is almost unheard of during this particular competition.
Aaron Cormeric took first in the pro division and walked away with a $2,500 check – not too shabby for a days worth of surfing.
In regards to the photographs I made, many of them are pretty high key. This is because not only is it a style I tend to favor when it comes to surf photography, but its also a means of handling awkward lighting conditions when everything is black lit or the clouds come rolling in on you.
